Art for me began as a childhood experience when I copied cartoon characters
from comic books and newspapers. As a teen I won an art contest for model aviation. I continued my self study
through high school and college.
God placed His hand on me and called me to the ministry in 1963 and I incorporated
art into various programs, camps and worship services. Using chalk art, I have shared the message that God gave His
Son Jesus Christ as His plan of salvation and have inspired worshippers throughout the southern states. I also enjoy
presenting gospel cartoon art for children.
My studies include participation in various seminars, college and correspondence
courses. Several of my works have been on display at the Mobile, Alabama Art Museum in juried art shows.
My wife shared a story that happened with one of my paintings during a show. She was standing at a distance watching
and listening to people's reactions to my work. There was a husband and wife debating ... One said it was not
water color like the description said, but was a photograph. After listening to the debate for several minutes, Sharon
approached the couple and assured them that it was indeed a water color and not a photograph. I love to work with realism!
My present day interests include not only chalk art, but water color, charcoal
and pastel portraits. Please visit my galary on this web site.
